Double Chocolate Banana Bread

Double Chocolate Banana Bread

This isn’t just any banana bread. This is double chocolate banana bread - rich, fudgy, a little indulgent, but secretly plant-based and wholesome enough that you can eat it for breakfast and not feel like you’ve had cake for a meal (no judgment).

This loaf is my go-to whenever those bananas on my counter start looking a little too speckled. Instead of tossing them, I mash them up, stir in some cocoa, throw in a generous handful of chocolate chips, and it somehow turns into something beautiful.

Why I love this recipe

  • It tastes like dessert but passes as breakfast

  • It’s plant-based without trying too hard

  • It’s ridiculously moist (sorry, I know you hate that word)

  • And most importantly: it’s double chocolate

Understanding Your Components

  • Bananas: The riper, the better, they bring natural sweetness and moisture.

  • Brown sugar + maple syrup: Just enough sweetness to make it dessert-y, but balanced so you can still have it for breakfast.

  • Olive oil: Keeps the bread tender and adds a subtle richness.

  • Cocoa powder: Deepens the chocolate flavor and gives that dark, fudgy vibe.

  • Baking powder: Makes the loaf light and fluffy without using eggs.
